Standards for listings at
ThePornDirectory and TheAdultDirectory


We have established these standards for listings.

All IMAGE sites listed for FREE in our directory must comply with the following:

  • Has its own domain such as thedomain.com with an entry page at the highest level. No sub-domains, sites under another domain or that require starting at a page other than www.thedomain.com. Sites hosted under someone else's domain come and go much more often than sites under their own domains. If you are really serious about your site, obtain and use your own domain.
  • We do NOT list free or AVS image sites. We list pay image sites only.
  • LINK EXCHANGE INFORMATION: Sites do NOT have to provide a reciprocal link but it is to your advantage to do so as you will get a better position in the listings. The page with our link on it MUST be accessible from a link to that page in a prominent position on your site. Putting a link on a link page that we cannot get to by clicking on a prominent link to it on your site will not be considered a link to us. In addition, a link to us that is "buried" in hundreds of other links is not acceptable. In addition to the foregoing, we must be able to find our link easily, we don't have time to "search for it." Links must be on the domain of the site we link to. Links for image sites must go to theporndirectory.com or quality-adult-sites.com. Links for non-image sites are encouraged to link to theporndirectory.com or quality-adult-sites.com but can also link to theadultdirectory.INFO. Also, putting a link to us on your site and then removing it after we look is grounds for moving your listing to the worst possible position on the page or removing it entirely. We check for reciprocal links regularly.
  • Maximum domain length is 67 characters (including the www. if required).
  • Must NOT have any coding that prevents the use of the "back" button on the user's browser. If we cannot "back out" of your site without exiting (and restarting) the browser itself we will not list your site.
  • The "join" link on pay "image" sites must be easy to find and it must work.
  • The content MUST be located at the listed domain. We do NOT list sites that ONLY link to "content" at OTHER DOMAINS.
  • Compatible with Netscape 7.x, Mozilla and Internet Explorer (we explore the sites with Mozilla to detect incompatible sites).
  • Site text for image sites in English (although we do list some non-English sites in our International category).
  • Images can be viewed "on the web" without downloading any programs or files. This is to prevent sites from secretly dialing to a possibly very expensive (per minute) phone number outside the U.S. or Canada. This also guards against malicious virusses that can be contained in downloaded programs from sites of unknown reliability.
  • ONE listing per site (if the same site is operated under more than one domain only one will be listed). If you see a site that is duplicated under different domains listed please let us know.
  • Dishonesty of any type is grounds for removing or not adding your listing. We DO check EVERY listing before it is added so if you misrepresent your site to us it will not do you any good.
  • IMAGE sites not meeting these guidelines automatically require a paid listing.

    Categories of sites "other than images" may (or may not) require the site to have its own domain. See our listings for that category to see whether or not we require this for that particular category. Qualified sites with their own domains are always listed.

    No sites that have or promote bestiality, rape, under 18, incest, torture, etc.

    We reserve the right to determine the sites we list (or don't list) and our decisions are final. However, for the most part, if your site meets our standards you will receive a free listing here.

    If we list your site for free in our directory, please place a link back to us on your site. Let's help each other in making our sites successful. And you will get a better location on our site too!
